Things To Consider

Before buying, there are several things you should keep in mind. Let’s go through them below.
Weight capacity
Firstly, you should check the weight limit of the board. You can do this either by looking at the product description or asking a question in the comment section.
For heavy riders, longboards that can support over 275 lbs are very good. You would not want to choose boards that support less than 200 lbs or up to 220 lbs. Those are not strong enough.
White Wave Bamboo longboard is a great board that can hold riders up to 300 lbs. Atom drop-through board or Magneto bamboo longboard are also good choices that can support riders around 275 lbs.
Deck width
A deck width of 6 or 7 inches may not be ideal for heavy riders. Although some people think shoe size is not relevant to deck size, we think it does provide a very good estimation.
For riders whose shoe size is from 7 and above, we advise them to stick to the deck width around 8 or higher.
You should keep in mind, however, is that an 8-inch deck does not mean all of the board body is 8 inches long.
The measurement points to the widest part of the board, which is usually the middle part where you place your feet.
The wider the deck, the more support you’ll get when you ride. Especially when you race downhill, you’ll get better stability.
Most longboards for heavy riders you find today are 9 to 10 inches wide. These are very good specs that you should stick to.
